Here we are during the time of the year where we celebrate a time called Thanksgiving, the GREAT THING about that is everyone takes away a different meaning of this day.

Take some time, really take 5 minutes….turn off the TV, stop looking at your computer, stop messing with your phone and social media and just grab a piece of paper and pencil and for this 5 minute time in your busy and hectic life… Just Think!

  • Health: If you are quite healthy, you’re probably thankful for that….to me HEALTH is the Only thing you cannot replace in life….So, this would be my # 1
  • Happiness: This is drawn from the people you surround yourself with, the moment and memories from as current as today to the ones you can remember decades ago. I love to draw from the past…listen to a song and reminds me of that exact moment in time. Pets make people happy… Hobbies are very important in making you happy! One of the most important things that I’ve found that makes me happy, is keeping busy and at the end of a busy day, I look back and see what I’ve accomplished. Faith is something very strong, it allows people solace and allows people to endure tough times and celebrate victories…
  • Family: This can be a touchy subject if siblings and parents are at odds for some reason, however; I do remember that you only get one mother and father and once they are gone, NO DO-OVERS… So, weather you are at odds with any close family member, be the bigger person and reach out the Olive Branch and make a mends. Even if they wont accept, YOU know deep inside that you’ve done your best and won’t have any regrets going forward.
  • Life: I’ve found happiness in just living life and if I need to look back I have no regrets. I’ve learned regret can eat you up and take away the happiness and fill it with feelings that are not helpful to anyone!
  • Be Kind to Others: I personally get great satisfaction opening doors for others and talking with them when waiting at the Deli… its funny, but some of the people that you look at from across the room with a big puss and intimidating look on their face turns into a pussycat once you initiate a compliment or just say hello. Remember, smiles are FREE!

So what’s my point? TODAY is another day and like any other day, they should all be Thanksgiving! The person digging ditches, fighting illness or begging in street for survival doesn’t have the luxury of what most of us take for granted… Hey, I’m as guilty as any other, I don’t wake up each day as appreciative as I should be…however; I do take time each day before a meal to Thank God and to many who don’t believe, a Higher power and give thanks for what I have TODAY and for guidance for a promising future path.

So, to conclude… anyone you have not talked to in a while and left on bad terms…find their number and call to say hello…Call your child or children, the one that you keep telling that you are disappointed in their choices after all the sacrifices you went through as they grew up and tell them you love and support their decisions and make an effort to spend time together. I’m sure you can figure out another dozen ways to heal past wounds and exit the regret room…

My focus will be on Medical & Life Insurances. Medical Insurance can be a pricy proposition, so how can we protect our liquidity and tangible assets, while passing on the risk and keeping medical bill exposure to a limit while paying a reasonable cost? Look into the following strategies:

  • For those age 65 + – Unfortunately as we all age, wisdom don’t qualify for a discount when it comes to pricing medical coverage. I say to look at higher deductibles, ($ 5k plus). Remember, if you are a US Citizen at age 65 you can drop the USA Coverage for most will keep Option B and attach a supplemental, (United or Humana, Etc.), If you have a pre-existing condition, some carriers will look at the severity, meds, etc and very likely issue you a policy that doesn’t have exclusions, but will increase the Deductible for that particular condition…Example: A person age 65 plus, (we can initially insure up to age 74 and up to 86 with Travel Medical), takes a statin or medication for elevated blood pressure or even had a stint put in 5 years earlier, instead of excluding Cardio all together…they would allow you the complete benefit of the policy, however; you would be responsible for an additional deductible toward a cardio issue of anywhere from $ 2,500 – $ 20,000 usd. If you had a Cardio episode.

Sample Cost: Male age 67 excluding the USA who spends most of his time in Mexico: Annual Premium for a private Medical Plan allowing you coverage all over the world excluding the USA with a $ 5,000 Deductible = $ 1,609 usd .

  • Air Evacuation ONLY: Is a great alternative for those that may have a preexisting medical issue that isn’t insurable…at least with this, as an American that keeps their Medicare A & B with a Supplement…they can be stabilized in their foreign city, (Usually 24-48 hours) and they can then be taken to the USA for their Medicare and Supplement to kick in and pay their large expenses.…

Sample Cost: A Couple who spends 270 plus days per year outside their USA/Canada age 65 would cost $ 595 usd. annually

  • For Most Others – For those of younger ages with children, they can follow a strategy of acquiring deductibles in the $ 1k – $ 5k range that offers they full coverage, (in and out of hospital). The rates are much more affordable than those in the USA, however; premiums are paid on an annual or semi-annual basis. Some plans offers cheaper rates if maternity is not included.

Sample Cost: Male age 55 spouse age 55 with a $ 1,000 deductible Global coverage including the USA would be $ 4,320 usd….if they excluded the USA it would cost $ 2,607 usd.

My focus as a professional is to customize plans that will suite my client’s objectives. EVERYONE’S objective is to protect their assets in case of a catastrophic event, (illness or accident)…while securing a plan and broker that will make any surprise medical situation a smooth transition, (from air evacuation to getting claims paid)

If you are willing to risk and absorb a $ 300,000 cash bill , that’s fine, it’s your call or If you are one of those people that think, “Nothing is going to happen to us, we are healthy, active, young and we can self-insure”…BE CAREFUL….because the saying goes…

Life Insurance is another transfer of risk issue and something I feel all families must have. You see, it’s all about liquidity…I’ve had clients that live in $ 3,000,000 dollar homes and belong to all the best clubs and have farms and second and third homes….but they forget that they live in a third world country where political revolution and currency devaluations can effect one’s wealth and status overnight. Look at Cuba in the late 50’s, Nicaragua in the late 70’s and most recently Venezuela the last 2 decades.

My point is if the main income earner died and left all their assets to their spouse and children in Nicaragua in 1978…by 1979 they would have been broke. Their houses handed to Communists, their bank accounts frozen, their status stripped, and their life in danger. If that person secured a U.S. Policy and paid that to an offshore trust…this particular family would have had a chance to rebuild their lives outside their home country, unfortunately this family that was millionaires came to the USA with nothing more than their Mercedes and some jewels they stuck in their pockets.

As US ex-pats it’s just as important, you build a live overseas, get your family used to a certain lifestyle and BOOM…you’re gone. What are they to do? Return back to the USA and live with mom & dad, get a job that’s pays little and start all over again. Why, if you can secure this policy now.

Example: a $ 1,000,000 20-year term policy for a 45 year-old / non-smoker can cost as little as $ 1,500 annually. The strategy is that after 20 years your children are grown and finished will college and living their own life and assets over that time accumulated, so in case of a death of either spouse, assets both liquid and tangible are set.

One job at a time!
It is easy to become overwhelmed when you are juggling tasks at work. Try to finish one job at a time and don’t set unnecessary deadlines giving you additional pressure.

Money and housework are the two biggest things that stress people out. Half of us argue with our partners because of the levels of clutter in the home.

Clear out your home, clear out your mind
Having a big clear out will go a long way to helping you de-stress. So pack up all those clothes you haven’t worn, books you haven’t read and toys that have lay neglected over the past 12 months and drop them into a charity shop. Not only will it be therapeutic but you get to feel good about helping others too.

Tidy every day
Just a 15 minute tidy each day will make a difference or get yourself a rota so that your home time is organized and everyone pitches in.




Friends and Family
Friends help us see things in a different way. Just making time to relax and have fun with friends is a good way of bringing contentment, a sense of belonging as well as helping to reduce stress levels and boost the immune system.

Make time for YOU
Whether it’s a relaxing spa treatment after work, a coffee with a friend, or even a hot bath with your favorite bubble bath, a pampering treat is sure to bring your stress levels down.

Let off steam!

Exercise not only protects you against stress but is also a great stress buster as ‘feel good’ chemicals released in the brain help to keep energy levels up and help defend the body against stress.

Gym? No way!
You don’t have to sign up to an expensive gym and slog away on the treadmill to get some exercise. Find a way of exercising that is fun and achievable. Any activity is good, whether it’s walking, bell ringing or even house cleaning, you are still being active and that is great for stress relief.

Get outdoors
The great outdoors is the best place to exercise as natural light and fresh air will boost your energy levels and your ‘feel good’ factor.

Rope others in
Doing active things with friends and family makes exercise something to look forward to, and you all get fit to boot!

Count those steps
Even five minutes here and there is going to make a difference to how you feel so get a step counter and find ways of increasing your movement throughout your normal day. The easier the activity, the more likely you are to do more.

Feed your body and your mind

Our bodies and our minds cope better with stressful situations if they are getting the right foods. A lack of essential vitamins and minerals can cause a variety of problems such as a lack of concentration, fatigue and low mood. Why not try replacing some ‘comfort’ foods with some stress busting foods including:

They are full of so many different stress relieving nutrients that they are a fantastic all rounder

Vitamin C
That’s fruit and veg, aiming for five portions a day. They are full of antioxidants which help repair the damage caused by stress.

Bread, pasta, rice and potatoes trigger the release of ‘feel good’ chemicals in your brain. And the experts say that carbs present in one baked potato are enough to relieve the anxiety of a stressful day.

Red meat
Is full of vitamin B and brilliant for boosting levels as it pumps oxygen around your body

Water needs to be at least 80% of your fluid intake daily. Many people feel stressed because they don’t drink enough, but drinks like coffee, coke and alcohol aren’t good as they release adrenalin which actually increases your level of stress.

Your body

Stress can take its toll on the body and skin in many ways. Stress is a high-energy user, and also uses lots of toxins. If your skin and body are low in nutrients and energy, there will be a decline in the quality of your skin and in your energy levels.

Dryness, blemishes and a grey pasty-looking complexion, tiredness, irritability and poor concentration are all signs of stress.

Grab a moment
If you feel things are rushing you by, sit back and take four or five deep breaths, using your lower abdominal muscles to get an instant de-stress. After a while, your body gets so used to breathing deeply whenever it goes into stress mode that you’ll do it without realizing.

Knead out those tensions
Having a massage can help if you are starting to feel tired and drained, and could be just what you need to push all the tension away.

Don’t feel guilty about taking time out for you.
We all need to turn off from time to time. Do something you enjoy which fits into your life, whether it’s reading, listening to music, doing yoga or meditating. It doesn’t have to take long – or be considered a luxury or time wasting. It is a vital part of life.

Head on the pillow but sleep still a long way off? One of the side-effects of stress is the inability to sleep, which just makes us even more stressed, tired, irritable and unable to live life to the fullest. Here are some tips to help you nod off:

Make sure your bedroom is not too hot, cold, noisy or light
Don’t eat or drink too late as it will over-stimulate you
Have a warm bath before bed
If you wake in the night with a thought, write it down as it stops you thinking about it
Don’t think you won’t sleep – think positively about it and you will

The outline descends step by step from the west to the east. Mountains and hilly land take up 65 percent of the total area. There are five main mountain ranges. Seven mountain peaks are higher than 8,000 meters above sea level. The Bohai Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea and South China Sea embrace the east and southeast coast


The Great Wall of China is a Chinese fortification built from the 3rd century BC until the beginning of the 17th century, in order to protect the various dynasties from raids by Hunnic, Mongol, Turkic and other nomadic tribes coming from areas in modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria. Several walls were built since the 3rd century BC, the most famous being the Great Wall of China built between 220 BC and 200 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang (this was located much further north than the current Great Wall of China built during the Ming Dynasty, and little of it remains).
